Did you know?

In the United States, the term Massage Therapist is the preferred terminology over the terms Masseuse/Masseur

That said, according to NYSED.gov, any use of the title "massage therapist", "masseuse", "masseur" or any derivation of the title, within New York State, requires licensure as a massage therapist.

Massage Therapists are professionals who must meet education, examination and experience requirements* including studies in Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Neurology, Pathology, theory and techniques of both Eastern and Western massage bodywork/therapy.

*requirements vary by state; NYS requires 1000 hours of training including 150 hours hands-on practice as well as passing the NYS Massage Therapy Examination.
