Hand and/or Foot Massage

Hot Stone Massage is an ancient therapy practiced by Native Americans and other cultures such as those in India, Asia, South America and Hawaii.  It is one of the oldest forms of hands-on healing and often was spiritual in nature.  In each culture, heated stones (thermotherapy) were used therapeutically to address a variety of discomforts in the mind and body.  This therapy has been used to aid in digestion, reduce muscle pain, improve function of internal organs, unblock stagnant energy and bring an overall feeling of peace and well-being.

Modern day Hot Stone Massage is a blend of techniques using stones heated in water for placement on the body and as "tools" for the therapist. The primary goals are relaxation and pain relief although the benefits are many (see below). The use of heat allows the therapist to work more deeply into the musculature without extra effort and without causing discomfort to the client.  Some health conditions that may be treated effectively with Hot Stone Massage are:

  •  Back pain
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Arthritis
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Stress/Anxiety
  • MS
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Circulatory problems

Hot Stone Massage has physical as well as physiological and subtle energetic benefits. As everyone is different, responses vary from person to person, but this modality is something that most people can benefit from in some way. Following are some of the benefits.

  • Reduces aches and pains
  • Improves bodily functions
  • Relaxes muscles, increases joint range of motion
  • Increases circulation
  • Relieves stress
  • Inspires the flow of energy in the body
